This is 2022 – the year my novel comes out! I’m writing this on 17 January, just two months from my launch dates in the US and UK. I can feel the momentum growing. Behind-the-scenes planning is simmering away and there’s a lot of exciting news to come. You can keep an eye on my events page to see what’s on the calendar. I’ll be updating it as events are confirmed.
January in the book world brings a raft of lists of Anticipated Books for 2022. I didn’t know what to expect. Of course, one hopes to be on a list or two. But, like many things in writing, it’s more realistic to keep focused on the writing and let the lists take care of themselves. There will always be more good books to read than spaces on a list. Having come into the writing world via submitting to literary magazines and contests, I’m well accustomed to the idea that rejections (or ‘no thank yous’, as I like to call them) tend to outnumber acceptances. So I was surprised and delighted that Peach Blossom Spring has been selected as an anticipated 2022 read by three, quite different organisations:
First, Shereads.com has included Peach Blossom Spring in their Best Literary Historical Fiction Coming in 2022 feature. Soon after that article, I learned that BookBub, a book site long-loved by my mom, also selected Peach Blossom Spring as one of the Best Historical Fiction Books of 2022. And here in the UK, I’m thrilled that Peach Blossom Spring is one of the books featured in Culture Fly’s fiction preview of 2022. It’s a great feeling to start the year with so much hope that my book will soon be finding its readers all over the world!
I’ll be back in February with more updates and news. In the meantime, if you haven’t already, you might like watching a few of the videos I made with my publishers back in November to introduce the book in the lead-up to publication. They were great fun to make and are posted on my Readers’ Area page.
